The Georgia Center for Joint Care is a continuum of care program
designed specifically for patients having state-of-the-art joint
replacement procedures at The Medical Center of Central Georgia.
The success of this patient-centered program depends on multiple
factors, including the advanced skill of the orthopedic surgeons
highly trained peri-operative surgical team, and rehabilitative
experts providing care during and after hospitalization. At the
Georgia Center for Joint Care, excellence is demonstrated every
step of the way, from pre-surgical education and preparation through
each phase of the procedure, involving state-of-the-art facilities,
with advanced pain control supporting an exceptional rehabilitation
Georgia Center for Joint Care has eleven orthopedic surgeons on
staff focusing on joint replacement procedures. The Medical Center
supports the joint replacement surgeons with a high performance
surgical team, and an outstanding operating room environment. All
efforts focus on accelerated recovery and quality outcomes. The
Orthopaedic Center has a dedicated Joint Care Unit with 23 spacious
private rooms. The physical therapy gym is also available on the
same floor with dedicated physical therapists and experienced
The Georgia Center for Joint Care invites you and your family member to attend a pre-surgical education session prior to your joint replacement procedure. Important information about pre-surgical preparation, hospital expectations, and discharge planning is provided in a relaxed and interactive class setting. Patients will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions of physical therapy and nursing staff. Classes are held Monday mornings in the physical therapy gym and end with a tour of the unit.
